Where West Coast Chill Meets East Coast Prep
Founded in 2005 by John O'Donnell (former UCLA Golfer), Johnnie-O is a lifestyle clothing brand that blends classic preppy style with laid-back California cool—what they call “West Coast Prep.” The brand has carved out a niche in both everyday menswear and golf apparel.

The Tall Guy Guide
Where they stand above:
  • The quality does meet or exceed expectations, and of the items I’ve tried the polos, ¼ Zips, and hoodies are all fantastic.
  • Specifically, with the golf polos, I’m a huge fan of the stretchy, breathable fabric, but one thing that stands out is the firm collar, which has enough structure to stay up, instead of not folding down or losing shape. 
  • The fit has been pretty consistent across the tops I’ve tried.
  • They do carry up to a 4XLT, as well as some bigger sizes that aren’t “tall” sizes. 
Where they fall short:
  • Although they do carry Big and Tall sizes, the availability of Large Tall and XL Tall is hit or miss.  At times I have seen just two items available and other times I have seen over 10, so while I’m a big fan of their clothes, the LT and XLT options are limited unfortunately. 
    • Example (Screenshot Below): As of 10/13/25 there were only 6 items available when filtered by LT and XLT.
  • The price point may be considered on the higher end, although I would argue that the quality, fit and feel, make it a little more worth the price. 
The Tall Guy Size Recommendation: XLT across the line
  • As seen in the photos below, the Large Tall almost works, but I feel the XL Tall fits my shoulders and width a little better, while providing the length.  Therefor the XLT is a better fit for me.
  • If you have a little smaller frame than I do, the Large Tall might be recommended
